Alyc Helms did her graduate work in anthropology and folklore, which makes her useless for just about anything except writing. She lives and writes in a dilapidated beach bungalow outside of San Francisco, and she works as a content coordinator in economics and biology for an academic press. She writes what she likes to call "critical theory fanfic," which allows her to explore her obsessions with liminality, gender, and foxes. She's currently shopping around her first novel, a pulp adventure fantasy that's rather like Big Trouble in Little China meets The Shadow, and she's hard at work on her second novel.
