James R Hardin

James retired early from the R&D; department of a major turbomachinery manufacturer, where he engaged in aerodynamic design, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analyses, and battle with temperamental computers. He holds two patents and has written or co-authored several technical papers (as well as a few Navy technical manuals, but they wouldn't let him sign those). He also plays, arranges, and composes music as a hobby, mostly on piano and synthesizer, and occasionally on a hammered dulcimer. (He's still trying to get the hang of the theremin.) He lives in western Pennsylvania with his wife, a varying number of sons depending on who's home, and two very skittish dogs.

James's science fiction novel Softlife is available from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other sources. You can download a sample, listen to some of his science-fiction themed music, and find out more at jamesrhardin.com.
